Sabarimala and Malikappuram: how to book, what to carry, and where to claim your offering

This page is meant to reduce counter confusion for devotees. It explains the usual booking flow for Sabarimala and Malikappuram rituals, but the official portal, the official app, and the on-ground counter instructions always remain final.

Official booking references

Primary online route

Use only the official Sabarimala portal and the currently published Travancore Devaswom or Kerala government booking links. Avoid forwarded payment pages, copied QR codes, and unofficial booking agents.

Mobile app

If you book through a mobile phone, use only the app or payment gateway that is clearly linked from the official booking flow on that day.

Step-by-step booking flow

1. Register

Create an account using a working mobile number and valid ID proof such as Aadhaar or voter ID.

2. Book Virtual Q

Select the darshan date first. Many rituals are tied to the same visit date.

3. Choose “Vazhipadu”

Select the temple carefully: Sabarimala main temple or Malikappuram, depending on the offering.

4. Add rituals to cart

Pick the rituals, prasadam, or tokens needed for your batch.

5. Pay digitally

UPI, debit card, credit card, and net banking are commonly used.

6. Save the receipt

Keep the PDF receipt and QR code ready in your phone and, if possible, as a printed backup.

Estimated rates for popular rituals

These figures are planning-only reference ranges used by devotees while preparing the budget. The official portal, official counter, or current Devaswom circular remains final.

Counter locations & prasadam claim

For Appam and Aravana, take the QR code receipt to the prasadam distribution counters and follow the active staff line instructions. Counter locations can shift between the temple exit flow, Malikappuram-side movement, Pamba, and Nilakkal, so use the Prasadam Counter Directory before you travel.

How to claim Malikappuram rituals

Inside the Malikappuram complex, show the digital receipt at the designated vazhipadu counter to collect the physical token or the offering items required for the ritual.

How to claim Neyyabhishekam

The ticket places you in the abhishekam queue. It does not replace the ghee-filled coconut, which must still be prepared in the traditional way.

Booking tips that save time

Advance planning

High-demand rituals such as Udayasthamana Pooja or Padi Pooja may have very limited availability. Do not assume they can be added at the last minute.

Fallback to counters

If the website is unavailable, physical counters at Pamba or Sannidhanam may still help, but devotees should expect long waiting time during peak days.

No casual miss

Missed ritual slots are often treated as void. Reaching the correct queue at the correct time matters just as much as making the payment.

Virtual Q vs. Spot Booking

Virtual Q:

The preferred method. Devotees book the date in advance, carry the permit, and avoid the long manual-registration queues at the base camps.

Spot Booking:

The backup method for last-minute pilgrims. Use the on-arrival counters only if online slots are full or the trip was finalised at the last moment.

Main locations:

Nilakkal remains the main in-person registration hub, while Erumeli serves the traditional route and Vandiperiyar supports the Satram/Pullumedu side.

Mandatory requirements:

Carry the original government photo ID, remain physically present for live verification, and be prepared for the daily cap to close once the quota is reached.
